Catching Up…

All of my recent posts(from today) have caught me up to Easter Sunday. Here we didn’t have a big meal, but we did go to a Futbol game on Sunday-I forgot my camera(but there are pictures on Facebook of the game). I then had a week of school which doesn’t involve many pictures..although it was Germ Butt’s birthday Monday and we went to a local bar called La Pista.  We were home by midnight and ready for school on Tuesday.  The week went fast actually and we were on our way to Nicaragua.  Nicaragua was this past week and that flew as well.  We left Monday and went to Guanacaste, Costa Rica.  Tuesday we crossed the border and stayed at La Casa Blanca in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua for the night which was across the road from the beach. We had a great night at La Iguana, next day not so great…but then we left for Granada, Nicaragua and met the families we were living with the next 3 nights.  I lived with Holly once more and we had a great family with Juanita for the mom, David- 20 year old brother, and Anicia- 18 year old sister.  They were very studious and so we only really saw them at dinner.  The first day with them Holly and I took a nap then we went out just to sit and chill and take in the culture.  I was heartbroken by how many poor children walked around the streets. I later found out that the parents stay home and send their kids out to collect money after school-they make more money doing that then working a full day. This made me extremely sad and I want to adopt a child now from Nicaragua… Next day we went to La Abuela a small eatery on a lake with cabins as well.  The food was great there and the sun and wind was a perfect mix and made it an awesome day.  After that around 3pm we headed to Masaya for some shopping at the Mercado, got a lot of good deals and had fun.  That night Holly and I stayed in and had a beer for our Mom because we found out the Dad passed away 3 months prior unexpectedly and he would have given his guests a beer.  It took us a while to figure out what to do since we didn’t have a secure ride home, but I think it was for the best that we stayed in…our mom seemed happy actually and talked for 3 hours straight..so that was good for her-maybe the beer helped who know…;)!  Friday we did a small boat tour to some islands and after went home and took more naps.. The weather was so humid you would sit in the house and be sticky, to me it felt like 100 degrees F, but that is not a comfortable temp.  We went to an Irish Pub and I had some fries and a smoothie and enjoyed just talking with everyone.  Once again the kids asked for money or sold little trinkets-very very sad! Saturday we headed home at 8am and arrived at 5:30pm after a half hour food stop and an hour and forty minutes at the NIC/CR border!! Finally HOME…
